The design of Adjust AI is inspired by many of the things that made the original Adjust such a great product. Topaz is striving to not only replicate but improve upon the classic Adjust workflow and design. Adjust AI includes some other popular Topaz technologies, including Topaz Detail and Topaz Clarity (now labeled “Topaz Dynamic”). The initial release will not have same features right out of the gate, but in the long run Topaz intends to make Adjust AI a complete replacement for the older technology, adding classic features such as noise reduction and more color adjustments.

Below is the un-retouched original of the adjusted image shown above (shot in 2008). The plants in the foreground and background are mostly lost to the shadows, but were fully restored in Adjust AI with very little effort:

Let’s run a couple of other older non-DSLR images through Adjust AI and see what we get. This is a bland image of an old church taken back in 2006:
Starting with one of the presets and tweaking parameters in the various categories, we begin to breathe new life into the image, adding some intentional stylization (before and after):

Here’s an example of purposely pushing stylization even further to ramp up the drama. First, the soft 2006 original:
Now the Adjust AI result, achieved mainly by boosting the various Contrast and Detail settings. I made one manual change afterwards in Photoshop, removing the distracting elements seen outside the windowpanes:
This is a before-and-after view of a Canon DSLR image, dragged directly into the latest release version of Adjust AI from Adobe Bridge. Note the recovery of shadow areas as well as an overall increase in detail:
Adjust AI will work its magic as a standalone or Photoshop/Topaz Studio plugin.
Current owners of the original Adjust plug-in will still be able to use the original copy in addition to receiving the new Adjust AI.
Please note: Original Adjust presets cannot be imported into this version. You’ll still be able to use any user-created presets in the original Adjust.
The classic Adjust plug-in will no longer be available for new purchases after the release of Adjust AI.

Recommended Workflow
To achieve the best results with Adjust AI, Topaz Labs recommends the following workflow:
1. Import photo. Use JPEG to RAW AI to restore RAW editing capabilities if needed.
2. Apply noise reduction with DeNoise AI.
3. Make any composition, cropping, or straightening adjustments desired in Topaz Studio.
4. Apply Adjust AI and make any further tweaks.
