Topaz has been working hard to further improve upon one of their most popular and cutting edge apps: Gigapixel AI. Topaz says, “Gigapixel AI is currently the only photo enlargement product available that can actually add detail back to your upscaled photo.” Version 4 was just released and boasts several useful improvements, which we shall explore below. I never tire of running detail-challenged images through Gigapixel as it’s always amazing to see what results can be had with today’s AI technology!
Note: For existing customers, this Gigapixel 4 update is FREE (as are ALL of Topaz’s updates). For new users, you can save an initial $20 through 4/5 AND there is an unadvertised ADDITIONAL 15% discount on Gigapixel as well as any other Topaz product by using our coupon code at checkout:
Now, what’s new in Gigapixel 4? Here are a few quick highlights:
•The name has been changed from Topaz A.I. Gigapixel to Topaz Gigapixel AI
•Improved processing models
•New feature to switch between highest possible quality output, or slightly faster processing
•Added a product tour that explains various features and settings
•Revised application icons
•Revised application splash screen
Here’s the familiar but revised interface as it appears once a photo is loaded and some settings adjusted:
(Notice I have chosen a 400% enlargement of the 4-megapixel, 15+ year-old Minolta DiMage S404 original and am getting much better results than the camera captured in the first place!)
Of special note is the new option to control Noise and Blur suppression not only separately, but over six levels ranging from None to High:
In the Preferences you now have more control over how much GPU memory is used, as well as whether or not to use the maximum quality AI models (this is important, depending on the type of hardware you are using, as Gigapixel is very demanding):

This may seem like a little thing, but you can now collapse the preview navigation thumbnail so it doesn’t block your view of the “before” area (see icon at upper left and compare to large screenshot above):
Now that you have seen the higher level of control Gigapixel 4 offers, let’s see some results. All of the screenshots below (as shown from within Gigapixel 4’s before-and-after Preview windows set to 100%) represent only a tiny portion of the original image and are being processed at a 400% enlargement over the original data. I kept both Suppress Noise and Remove Blur on the High settings as they seemed best for my particular images.
