Some exciting news from Topaz to share: Topaz Studio 2<\/a><\/strong>, a complete re-write of version 1, was just released! It looks quite different than the previous version of Studio, and changes the paradigm a bit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Topaz Studio 2<\/a><\/strong> has been rebuilt from the ground up to be much simpler and faster to use. The main design intention is to offer an image editor that excels at supporting creative post-processing workflows (like retouching or digital art) beyond simple image corrections. To make this happen, the new Studio provides a fully non-destructive layer workflow, an improved masking experience, and a robust Looks library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This change represents a major impact to your workflow if you rely on Studio, but Topaz thinks you\u2019ll find that it\u2019s worth it. In addition to what Studio 2 will be capable of upon its initial launch, Topaz is committed to delivering rapid improvements to Topaz Studio 2<\/a><\/strong> in the coming few months, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Cropping
\u2022Histogram
\u2022Allow copying layer masks
\u2022Allow using plug-ins in Studio
\u2022Studio 1 Preset To Look Conversion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And later:
\u2022Image (pixel) layers for compositing
\u2022Wacom tablet support on masking
 
With all of this in mind, here are some major differences between Studio 1 vs 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Pricing change.<\/strong> Instead of paying for each add-on you want to use, Topaz Studio 2 will now be available for a single flat fee of $99.99 that includes all adjustments by default<\/em> ($79.99 through 8\/9 with additional 15% discount available!<\/a>). There will no longer be a free version. If you\u2019ve previously bought Studio adjustments, read about the free upgrade path further below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Full non-destructive layer support<\/strong>. As mentioned before, Topaz Studio 2 now has full layer support \u2013 and everything you do is non-destructive. Looks (formerly Presets) go on their own layers so you can now mix, match, and stack them (Apply and Duplicate no longer necessary!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Major UI refresh<\/strong>. Topaz Studio 2 received a major user interface change focused around layers. You can easily drag and drop to rearrange layers, access layer masks, and control blending\/opacity. It does look quite different than the current Studio, but Topaz is confident this new workflow will enable you to work more quickly and easily than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A couple of things to keep in mind with Studio 2:<\/strong>
 
\u2022The old Studio 1 .tsp format will no longer be compatible
\u2022Studio 1 presets will not be compatible at launch, but we will offer a utility to help migrate custom Studio 1 presets into Studio 2
\u2022Studio 2 will not support plug-ins upon release, but this will be added soon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upgrading from the current Topaz Studio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022If you own Studio adjustments with total list price >$99.99, you\u2019ll receive Studio 2 for free<\/strong>.
\u2022If you own Studio adjustments with total list price <$99.99, you\u2019ll receive store credit<\/strong> for the adjustments you do own.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Topaz is calculating this based on full price (not paid price), so if you\u2019ve received products as free upgrades or bought any on sale, then you\u2019re getting an even better deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This re-imagining of Topaz Studio<\/a><\/strong> shouldn\u2019t pose any significant increase in hardware requirement other than the minimum Mac OS will be raised to 10.12 based on a low level library requiring it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
