Neither do I! Whether it\u2019s the side of a barn or a small canvas, I\u2019m just not going to bother with that\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I can take photos all day long, and I do love the look of \u201cartsy\u201d post-processing on my photos! So how to bridge the gap between the results I want and the tedious process required to get realistic paint effects?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Answer: Software!<\/strong><br>Let your computer do the work, that\u2019s why we have them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I&#8217;m not going to suggest you then grab a digital paint brush and duplicate the tedium of doing it for real. In this series of blog posts I\u2019ll introduce you to various options for creating <strong>literally 1-click<\/strong> masterpieces using your images as the source. Version 6 was just released for Windows and Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what is <strong>DAP<\/strong> (now a decade into development)? According to Mediachance,<em> &#8220;Instead of processing pixels of the input photo, our software uses the image as a guide and applies real brush strokes based on the works of famous classic painters such as <strong>Van Gogh, Monet, Sargent, Cezanne<\/strong>\u2026 to recreate from scratch your photos in each artist signature style.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There you have it \u2013 not only are you going to paint with just ONE click, you are going to emulate the Masters while doing it! As well as apply many other styles through a large selection of easy-to-use presets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s take look at this effortless process using some of my own photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This photo of <strong>New York City<\/strong> was taken from the Hudson River. I decided to use the &#8220;Book&#8221; preset, defined as &#8220;Kid&#8217;s Book Illustration&#8221;. Let&#8217;s keep going, because doing single-clicks does not wear one out&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let&#8217;s take an old postcard from over 100 years ago and bring it to life in <strong>DAP<\/strong>. Yes, I did spend all day today having fun going through my old photos and giving them artsy makeovers! Here&#8217;s one more before we talk technical stuff: My hawk image, downloaded from the main page of the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plugsandpixels.com\" target=\"_blank\">Plugs &#8216;n Pixels website<\/a><\/strong> with <strong>DAP<\/strong> preset <strong>&#8220;Golden_Age&#8221;<\/strong> applied:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"864\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/dapbird.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2583\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/dapbird.jpg 864w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/dapbird-768x530.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So far I&#8217;ve literally been doing 1-click art (not counting choosing the present and saving the image for an actual total of 3 clicks&#8230;), but you can dive way deeper into interactive settings and advanced operation if you&#8217;d like (the manual is available <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mediachance.com\/files\/DAP6-manual.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/order.shareit.com\/product?vendorid=200277176&amp;productid=300870664&amp;backlink=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.plugsandpixels.com&amp;affiliateid=200019699\" target=\"_blank\">Dynamic Auto Painter 6<\/a><\/strong> runs normally on Windows (today I was using a 10-year old i7 PC build and <strong>DAP<\/strong> was working very quickly on it), while the Mac version is a self-contained WINE virtualization (I tested <strong>DAP<\/strong> on a MacBook Air running Mojave, an iMac running Big Sur and an M1 MacBook Pro running Big Sur and it worked fast and flawlessly on both, after running the provided shell command script to allow it to open under Apple&#8217;s app restrictions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s new in version 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022Grade Tab to fine color correct input image<br>\u2022Inpaint tab to fix and remove objects from the input image<br>\u2022Equirectangular 360 Panorama support<br>\u2022Leroy Color Randomizer<br>\u2022Internal support for Preset Folders<br>\u2022U-Paint Helper for aspiring real world artists<br>\u2022Art Tone<br>\u2022Link to Premium templates<br>\u2022Save layers as PSD<br>\u2022Tighter relationship between Color Adjust and Layers<br>\u2022Reactor &#8211; preview of actual image in Edit<br>\u2022Two editions, HOME and PRO<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you have the patience to paint like a real artist?
