Created with AI, enlarged with AI, enhanced with AI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A couple of weeks ago I first heard about <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/nvidia-canvas-app-gaugan-beta-130038670.html?src=rss_b2c&amp;guccounter=1\" target=\"_blank\">NVIDIA Canvas<\/a><\/strong> (beta, you must read this!) and thought I&#8217;d give it a try. Good news is, it&#8217;s free and fun to use, even for non-artists. Bad news is, you need to use a specific high-end NVIDIA RTX graphics card on a PC, of course, and I did not have this particular setup. But it turns out such a computer was available at work and I was able to access it remotely from 30 miles away and get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am about to show you my very first doodle with the app, but stick with me! I think that&#8217;s the Matterhorn at Disneyland by some beach&#8230; Obviously it needs some refinement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: Open any image in a new tab or window to view larger.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Redrawing and erasing the weird peak off of the mountain and stacking different textures resulted in something much more realistic, but not entirely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1907\" height=\"1006\" src=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2952\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas2.jpg 1907w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas2-768x405.jpg 768w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas2-1536x810.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1907px) 100vw, 1907px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A little more detail work and an accident using the Erase tool (instead of the paint brush) brought me to this very believable-looking weathered arch formation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1909\" height=\"1004\" src=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2953\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas3.jpg 1909w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas3-768x404.jpg 768w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas3-1536x808.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1909px) 100vw, 1909px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The output from Canvas is unfortunately only 512&#215;512 pixels, and though I&#8217;ve read rumors of some larger output settings, I cannot find them. So the obvious workaround to this small file size (one that I immediately thought of, and so did many others online) is to use <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/topazlabs.com\/gigapixel-ai\/ref\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Topaz Gigapixel AI<\/a><\/strong>, which is perfect for this sort of use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BTW, <em>never pay full price<\/em> for any Topaz app! Use the coupon code and link found on the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/discounts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Plugs &#8216;n Pixels Discounts page<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how the final saved Canvas render looks when being enlarged 6X in <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/topazlabs.com\/gigapixel-ai\/ref\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gigapixel<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1865\" height=\"979\" src=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2954\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas4.jpg 1865w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas4-768x403.jpg 768w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas4-1536x806.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1865px) 100vw, 1865px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides enlarging and clarifying the original, <strong><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/topazlabs.com\/gigapixel-ai\/ref\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gigapixel<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> also reveals a slight artistic touch found in Canvas renders. A further enhancement I employed was to open the enlarged render in <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/topazlabs.com\/studio\/ref\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\">Topaz Studio 2<\/a><\/strong> and experiment with the various Filters and Looks. Shown below is &#8220;Ghostly Winter Forest&#8221; and the mood it is adding to the image:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1212\" height=\"972\" src=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2956\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas5.jpg 1212w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas5-768x616.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1212px) 100vw, 1212px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Not bad for the first round! I purposely used that accidental eraser trick to create what was supposed to be the entrance as seen from the inside of a cave, but the scene ended up being more of a seaside cliff and arch (&#8220;lucky accident&#8221; they call it!):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1906\" height=\"982\" src=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas12.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2969\" srcset=\"https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas12.jpg 1906w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas12-768x396.jpg 768w, https:\/\/plugsandpixels.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/canvas12-1536x791.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1906px) 100vw, 1906px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For a variation of the final version I let the water flow throughout the foreground and through the arch toward the beach.
