I’ve posted recently about Gigapixel AI 4.3.1 because it’s one of the most impressive pieces of digital imaging technology at the moment. And at the moment it’s $20 off through this Friday AND you can save an additional $12 by clicking the link above and using the coupon code displayed there.
You know Gigapixel AI is only going to get even better, but until I can say more about that, let’s process some different photos and see what you can expect.
As always, I dredge up older photos from my archives because they are in the most need of help and the improvements through AI are the most impressive.
This model photo was taken in 2006 with a 4MP Minolta non-DSLR camera using ambient studio lighting and auto-focus. Not bad, but not great. Here is the full frame image (reduced) for reference:
And here are two examples of what Gigapixel AI can do to improve mushy pixels, in this case blown up 4X (open images in a new tab or window to view at 100%). You can see where the selection is coming from by locating the crosshairs in the thumbnail at upper left of all of these previews:

This incredible improvement is not a fluke! Here is another model shot under the same conditions with the same camera the same year. First, the full frame for reference, followed by the blow-ups:
A couple of years later in 2008 I was using a 6MP Sony non-DSLR camera and made a trip to New York City. Gigapixel AI makes it fun to go crowd-peeping after the fact!
The first photo was taken on Ellis Island, with lots of interesting folks from around the world visiting (as is appropriate for this landmark). Here is the full frame for reference, followed by the blow-ups. Notice especially how the hair is being restored, with the latest version of Gigapixel mainly striving to add improved face rendering:

And now we head over to Times Square where an entirely different crowd of people are making their way in all directions. First the full frame for reference, followed by the blow-ups. Notice the man in the bright blue shirt further back in the crowd:
Once we reach such extreme levels of mushy people pixels, Gigapixel shifts into some interesting facial restorative technology!
